PROJECT TERM

Z - In Search of the Sustainable Soul

Project Term

Since 1975, Project Term has been an integral part of the Upper School experience at the Academy of the Sacred Heart. Rooted in the Goals and Criteria of a Sacred Heart education, Project Term invites every Upper School student to step beyond the classroom and learn through experience.

For more than 20 years, one of those experiences has taken students far from home—to the rivers, forests, and communities of the Peruvian Amazon.

Since 2005, Z has brought Sacred Heart students to the Amazon for an immersive experience that challenges them to listen, explore, ask questions, and see the world from a different perspective. Along the way, they learn from the people and communities they encounter—and often discover something about themselves as well.

The journey doesn't end when the students return home. Through reflection, conversation, and the creation of their own work, they continue to make sense of what they experienced and consider what they might do with what they have learned.

Below are a few examples of student publications that grew out of their experiences in the Amazon.

Every journey leaves a story. These are some of theirs. Photos of Project Term - Amazon experiences.
